Commercial Roof Inspections Demopolis, AL For Hail Damage Insurance Claims After Storm On October 12, 2022
Commercial Roofing & Restoration
A fast-moving storm swept across Demopolis, AL, Wednesday, Oct. 12th, leaving a trail of roof hail damage and property owners in need of commercial roof inspection services. RestoreMasters has commercial roof inspection professionals in the area to help assess roof storm damage and provide a reliable quote for an insurance claim. Those impacted by hailstone strikes can contact the roof repair office in Birmingham, AL.
As the storm approached, organizations such as the AlabamaWX Weather Blog issued safety warnings, due to its unpredictability.
“Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm,” AlabamaWX reported. “Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature’s leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.”
Property owners who took hailstone strikes are urged to request a complimentary roof inspection. Even when hail property damage doesn’t seem to require emergency roof repair, dented and cracked metal panels, as well as compromised sealants, typically lead to moisture penetrations over time. Hail roof leaks are a leading cause of water damage and hazardous mold growths.
A local hail damage map confirmed the extreme weather alert. The map shows a storm front stretching from the southwest of Demopolis to the northeast across I-80 and Route 69. Yellow indicates hail up to 1.25 inches pelted the region. Light orange highlights areas where ice chunks up to 1.75 inches inflicted property damage. But the dark section hovering over the I-80 business district proves hailstones 2.5 inches in diameter dented and cracked roofing systems.
Social media posts about the Demopolis hail damage and related storms:

The largest hail fell in the SW corner of Highway 80 and 43 SW of Demopolis. pic.twitter.com/geB1i3aOPY— StormIntelligence (@StormIntel) October 12, 2022
(1/2): How common is large hail in Alabama in October? Not very! Yesterday morning's hail near Gallion/Demopolis was only the 7th recorded instance of 2"+ diameter hail in Alabama since 1950, with most of those occurrences not happening until late in the month. pic.twitter.com/QqAFmkhoqD— NWS Birmingham (@NWSBirmingham) October 14, 2022
A National Weather Service high wind, tornado, and hailstorm map for Wednesday, Oct. 12th, shows storms blanketing Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky, as well as concentrations in Georgia and Michigan. All told, there were 12 tornados, 92 high wind incidents, and 51 hailstorms over the 24-hour period. Reports indicate the Demopolis and neighboring communities sustained the following.
- Demopolis: Ice the size of quarters pelted residential areas and business hubs in Marengo County.
- Gallion: Social media images show hail the size of hen eggs hitting rooftops across Hale County.
- Hamilton: Ice stones the size of ping pong balls struck windshields and dented metal roofs in Marion County.
Having a commercial roof inspection conducted following a severe weather event identifies obvious and sometimes subtle damage that may go unrepaired. The process also provides property owners and managers with a comprehensive evaluation and reliable quote to present to an insurance company.
RestoreMasters dispatched emergency roofing contractors and inspectors to Augusta, GA, on May 6, 2022, after a hail and wind storm left widespread property damage.
Severe storms, bringing hail, strong winds, or tornadoes can cause severe roof damage, by ripping off roofing systems. Some older roofs can sustain damage from only 50 mph winds. The severity of roof damage depends on several factors including: type and age of roofing materials, presence of flying debris, roof shape and angle, building height and proximity to adjacent structures and the quality of original roof installation.
