Commercial Roof Inspections in Omaha, NE for Wind & Hail Damage Insurance Claims After Storm on June 7, 2022
Commercial Roofing & Restoration

Driving winds, heavy rainfall, and hailstones ripped through Omaha, NE, Tuesday, June 7th, shredding trees and smashing roof shingles. Local news organizations report widespread damage, and RestoreMasters has commercial roof inspection experts in Omaha to help expedite wind and hail damage insurance claims and provide emergency roof repair.
“The hail contributed to street and basement flooding in Omaha and other communities by filling and blocking sewer inlets. As a result, some videos of central Omaha showed rivers of water gushing down streets and pooling, lake-like, in low areas,” The Omaha World-Herald reported.
“Social media posts from Omaha also showed shredded landscapes, some broken-out windows, and pock-marked siding. Some cars got stuck in floodwaters, and some high-centered on piles of hail, both in the metro area and elsewhere in Nebraska,” the media outlet reported.
Property owners and managers are urged to request a complimentary roof inspection. Hail damage to roofing systems allows rain to seep through and cause preventable water damage.
A local wind and hailstorm damage map shows an extended, light gray area that indicates high winds. The windstorm stretches from Valley and runs southeast across Bellevue and I-29. The yellow sections show hailstone clusters of ice up to 1.25 inches. The light orange areas point to hail damage on roofs and automobiles from chunks up to 1.75 inches in diameter. The dark orange highlights ice stones the size of tennis balls, inflicting heavy roof damage.

The National Weather Service tornado, high wind, and hail damage map shows Eastern Nebraska, Western Missouri, and Northern Kansas blanketed by severe storms. Other fronts drop into the Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma, with isolated storms in Alabama and Tennessee. All told, the country sustained roof storm damage from 17 tornados, 221 high-wind incidents, and 220 hailstone strikes on Tuesday, June 7th. Wide-reaching news and social media reports illustrate the following Omaha-area communities suffered wind and hail damage to roofing systems.
- Ceresco: Golf ball-sized hail completely stripped leaves off of trees. Saunders County residents took shelter as hailstones caused roof hail damage and smashed windows.
- Davey: High winds and hail the size of baseballs thrashed areas of Lancaster County. High winds snapped tree limbs.
- Dunbar: High winds snapped tree limbs and power poles in Otoe County.
- Eagle: Hailstones as large as baseballs battered automobiles and rooftops in Cass County.
- Elkhorn: Ice the size of quarters peppered neighborhoods and business districts at approximately 9 pm.
- Lincoln: Intense wind gusts downed trees near 48th street as well as another at 57th and Vine.
- Omaha: Hailstones the size of hen eggs struck commercial buildings in the metro area.
- Valparaiso: Hail 1.75 inches in diameter damaged roofs and exposed vehicles as broken tree limbs struck property.
Reports coming out of Omaha drew attention to hail so thick that crews needed shovels to clear I-80 westbound. Hail of this magnitude dents metal roofs, cracks asphalt shingles, and typically tears flat roofing systems. Commercial roof inspection services and emergency roof repair are critical steps to preventing water damage and hazardous mold growths.
RestoreMasters recently deployed emergency roof repair crews to McCook, NE, on June 5, 2022, following a destructive hailstone strike.
Severe storms, bringing hail, strong winds, or tornadoes can cause severe roof damage, by ripping off roofing systems. Some older roofs can sustain damage from only 50 mph winds. The intensity of roof damage is determined by various factors: the velocity and impact of flying debris, the quality of the original installation, the building height and location in relation to other buildings, the angle and shape of the roof, and the material used on the roof.
