Commercial Roof Inspections in Wellington, CO to Document Roof Hail Damage from July 27, 2022 Storm

Commercial Roofing & Restoration

Disaster Response Team

Jul 28, 2022

People in Wellington, CO, were forced to shelter in place on Saturday, July 27th, as hail strikes pounded building roofs and torrential downpours caused flash flooding. Commercial property owners will require prompt commercial roof inspection and roof repair services to prevent water damage and expedite insurance claims. RestoreMasters has a roof repair office in Colorado Springs, Colorado that provides statewide support, including commercial roof inspection and emergency roof repair in Wellington.

“Hail stones the size of grapes and larger were reported in Wellington and other portions of Larimer County,” the Coloradoan reported. “Up to 2.55 inches of precipitation had fallen in Fort Collins proper and up to 2.62 inches in Wellington.”

Commercial property owners are urged to request a complimentary roof inspection. Even minor hail roof damage can leave cracks in roof sealants, panels, and shingles that allow rain to penetrate. When moisture soaks rafters and load-bearing infrastructure, it can result in significant water damage. And hazardous molds grow behind walls, impacting the health of commercial building occupants.

A local hail damage map shows four intense weather formations over northern Colorado. One hovers to the west of Route 287. A pair of hailstorms trekked east of Pierce, Ault, and Eaton, impacting buildings along Highway 14. The most severe roof hail strikes occurred in the greater Wellington area as a massive storm stretched from Windsor to the Wyoming border.

The yellow sections depict hail up to 1.25 inches pelting communities and farmland. The light orange areas highlight ice as large as 1.75 inches in diameter, inflicting damage to residential and commercial roofing systems. But the dark orange swath that hit Wellington indicates ice stones up to 2.5 inches inflicted hail roof damage.

RestoreMasters responded to Pierre, SD, to provide emergency roof repair and inspections after a storm caused roof wind damage on June 20, 2022.

Tornadoes, hail, and even strong winds can cause severe wind damage to roofing systems.

Winds as low as 50 mph can cause some older roofs to be damaged.

Roof damage can be severe or mild, depending on various factors which include: materials used on the roof, impact of debris, building height and proximity to other buildings, age, angle and shape of the roof and type of roofing.

Following severe weather like this, it's important to get a thorough roof inspection & property damage assessment to determine whether or not you have roof damage from hail or wind.

In situations where you've got a leaking roof, experienced disaster roofing contractors can stop the leaks temporarily, by laying tarp or by using a durable shrink-wrap plastic membrane in the affected areas, or even over the entire roof. This will keep your building protected until permanent repairs can take place. This will help prevent mold infestation from water leaks.

Rather than believing your roof is not damaged, if your property is anywhere in the area of the storm damage map, then you will want to get your roof inspected.

Some storm damage problems do not produce symptoms right away.

And insurance companies can require you to get a claim in before their deadline.
