Contractor Teams Repair Roof Hail Damage In Sioux Falls & Southeast South Dakota, On May 28, 2022

Sunday Morning May 28^th, Sioux Falls and Southeast South Dakota early risers were greeted by golf ball and softball-sized hailstones and a day of severe thunderstorms to go on into Memorial Day. 

Dakota News Now reports an auto body shop that suddenly became very busy due to the damage to cars. Evan Kindt from Marv’s Body Shop said that the storm may be “the severest that we’ve seen in Sioux Falls since 2014”. Golf ball and softball-sized hail do not drop without causing damage to cars, buildings, and homes.

The center of the storm directly over Sioux Falls and a patch west dropped huge hail about the size of golf balls and soft balls (dark orange). Extending beyond and meeting between those areas, ping-pong to golf ball-sized hail (orange) dropped, with the majority of the storm dropping 1” – 1.25” hail (yellow).
