TPO Retrofit for Hail Damage

Hey, guys. I’m Jacob Parker and I’m with RestoreMasters. We are at Cannon Load Banks in Palmetto, Georgia. In March of 2023, this area was hit by one of the largest hailstorms it’s seen in the last 25 years, compromising all types of roofing systems. I arrived here on site back in April, and we noticed that this building was not only compromised, but it was beyond cosmetic. We’re talking functional damage. Let’s go up there and take a look, and I’ll show you what we got going on.
I hear it all the time, “My maintenance guy went up there, he didn’t see anything to be concerned about,” or, “My roofer went up there and he didn’t see any damage.” You can’t see damage with your bare eye on metal. Here at RestoreMasters, we’re trained to be experts in identifying storm damage and when it happened. Let me show you how. First off, we’re going to rub this chalk right over the metal. When we do that, it’s going to identify where the hail impacted the metal. Then I’m going to go right over and I’m going to measure the size of it, match it up to the NOAA report, and that’s how I identify if this storm caused this damage.
My client’s main concern was having to shut down business. I asked him, “Are you familiar with a retrofit where we put a roof over your roof?” Why that is appealing to most clients is you don’t have to shut down business, you’re adding an extra layer of protection. Retrofits actually make your building energy-efficient, so it’s cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. TPO retrofits are actually more hail-resistant than metal roofs. It’ll take anything over two and a quarter inch-size hail to compromise this roof. So just to put that in perspective, this compromised roof right now was hit by a 1.5 inch hail. If this had the retrofit on it, more than likely, this client would’ve been all right.
WeatherBond’s TPO could be installed over an existing standing seam metal roof to offer a proven long-lasting protection while increasing the energy efficiency of the building. This solution could be more cost-effective than replacing the metal roof while proving to be a much longer-term solution compared to coatings. TPO retrofit roofing involves installing a TPO membrane over an existing roof surface, effectively creating a new and improved and efficient roofing system. The TPO membrane is a single-ply roofing material known for its exceptional resistance to UV radiation, chemicals, and weather conditions. So as you can see, the stage that we’re at here is they’ve already filled in the gaps with a foam and then they just added the ISO. The last step is to put the TPO right over the top.
So we’re right at the middle point, as you can see on this side, this is what’s underneath, and here is your finished product. So if your main concern about doing an insurance claim is the actual construction aspect of it, the tear-off, the cleanup, the business interruption, why not consider a retrofit? It will alleviate all those concerns. And why not use a certified installer like RestoreMasters who can guarantee quality work and a great warranty to back it up? I’m Jacob Parker with RestoreMasters and We Roof America.
