And we’re with Restore Masters. Now imagine this, you’re sitting in your room watching TV, the power goes out. Your building starts shaking, water’s coming in through the doors, through the ceiling, your roof just got torn off. What do you do?

So that’s exactly what happened here at this property. The hurricane struck, they were in desperate need of our help, and come the morning, there was metal debris all over the place. We actually noticed somebody trying to get into their vehicle and we stopped by to give them our hand, just so happened to be the president of the HOA here. They elected to go with us because of our expertise and the amount of time it took us to get our people out here.

As you can see behind here, we had a significant amount of damage happening, this is just the beginning of it. The metal roof had actually blown off and it was over everybody’s cars and property and throughout the entire parking lot. And we’ve already got it all piled up into an area, and we’re waiting for the dumpsters to get here to get it off the property. Our water removal team’s already up there moisture mapping and everything, and the roof was exposed to the plywood. Let’s go ahead up there and take a look.

So here we are in one of our units, you can see the damage is pretty extensive up here on the roof. They have insulation that’s fallen down on the walls, and they even had a couple doors over here get blown in. We went ahead and boarded up the doors over here. And this is actually one of our better units, so we’ll go ahead and take a look at the other ones to see how those look.

So here we are. We’re actually in one of our worst units. The damage here is pretty apparent, you can see the roof has fell in and all of this furniture here is wet and needs to be taken out of the building. And even behind these walls that you don’t see anything with, moisture mapping them has shown that there’s water behind them and they need to be torn out as well. So we’re going to get all of this damaged stuff outside and start to rebuild so we can get our residents moved in as soon as possible.

A lot of these buildings actually have stucco, and you can imagine with the high winds and debris coming around and hitting the building, you have a lot of contact spots here already. We have different spots of the building that are actually exposed, gashes and holes. And behind the stucco, there’s metal laths, and they get rusted out. And by code, we can’t just patch over that, so the entire elevation’s going to get new stucco and covered through the insurance plan.

So when we got up here, we had to clean off the roof, finish drying in to prevent any further water from getting in and causing any more damage. So what we have here is a 5V metal roofing system with exposed fasteners. What we’re going to come back with is a 24 gauge standing seam, no exposed fasteners, that has a much higher wind rating and much better looking too.

So to recap on this project here behind us, we had the roof blow off, there’s water in some of the units, and the exterior took some damage. So this is a complicated project we got here behind us.
