How’s it going? Matt Irvin here with RestoreMasters. Today, we are at the North Plaza Project. Follow me and let’s check it out.
The reason we are here today, putting everything back together, is because a category five hurricane came through and ripped off a lot of the sections of the roof up here. There was debris all around the building. The entire interior was flooded with water. So we were tasked with coming in, getting all the water out of the building, getting the drywall and everything cut out, getting the roof in the dry, and getting this project put back to pre-storm condition. The guys are here on the roof now. Let’s go check it out.
Now that we’re up here on top of the roof, one of the details that I want to point out is before we started this project, the last roofer sectioned these panels off into sections all the way up the roof. That’s where the panels are going to overlap. And as time goes on, everything expands and contracts, and that causes leaks all across your metal roof system. Luckily, we own the machines and we run the panels off right here on site. So we’re able to get 50 foot panels here, 80 foot panels on the other side so that it’s one complete seamless system and we don’t have to ever worry about any leaks in the future on our roof systems
Here, we can see the brand new roofing system. And over here, we can see the old roofing system. And then, right beside us, we can see all the white material covering the old roofing system, and that is from the beginning when the hurricane first hit. A lot of holes from debris and trees flying up here and water coming inside everywhere. So we chose to use TPO instead of a tarp, because tarp, you have to redo every 60 90 days. TPO can last multiple years if needed, if the insurance company hasn’t settled the claim. So the TPOs still here, still doing its job in this section, and we’re bringing the roof along. We have to change some of the purlins because they’re all bent inside. But as soon as we change the purlins and get this section finished up, we’ll be completed here on the rooftop, and we’ll be starting on the interior.
On top of the little roofing systems, the most common area of concern and of leaks on the roof system is right here around these large units. That’s why you can see here the detail and the time that we put into flashing these units to ensure that we don’t have any problems or issues in these areas, and that you as a customer are completely satisfied and taken care of.
Insurance claims can be a complicated process. That’s why we have all of the people and processes in place to handle this and get it taken care of so that you don’t have any worries. For example, the roof was paid for, but the wall flashing that came up, as you can see, it comes up and it goes up the wall here and it’s screwed in. Well, the carrier hasn’t paid for that yet. So we have to document this because all of the siding has to come off. And in order to get the siding off, the coping also had to come off. And all of these items are damaged in the process, so we photograph it all and we submit this to the carrier as supplemental items. And all this will get covered through the insurance claim.
If you find yourself in a situation like this building owner and you need someone you can trust, or if you’ve been hit with any type of hail storm or any other type of storm damages have happened to your property and you need an honest inspection report, check us out on the web, give us a call. We’d love to come out and help you out. This is Matt Irvin. Thanks for watching.
