Project Overview
Summary provided by video transcript.
What’s up guys? This is Olivia with RestoreMasters and we are here today in Shawnee, Oklahoma at Oklahoma Baptist University. The reason we’re here is because we’re re-roofing this building, which you can see directly behind me, the Sarkeys Center. We are doing a full tear off and replacement of the roofing system. So, if you want to come with me, let’s go ahead and check it out. Before we get up on the roof, I’m going to talk a little bit about why we’re doing this roof today. It started with a hailstorm and after about a year of negotiation with the insurance carrier, we’re now starting the production phase. This is the first building of about 60 that we’re going to be assisting them in completing.
So, previously in a video that we shared with you before, I discussed a lot more in detail how we got into this restoration project. The reason that we’re here today is to really show what the production side of this looks like. We’ve showed you the claim negotiation side. We’ve showed you what the inspection looks like. Now, we’re going to show you what the build process looks like, but first, let’s take a look at our staging area. So, over here you can see this is all poly ISO board. This is what goes under the membrane that they’re putting on the roof. They have it all protected and covered in plastic casement so that it’s not damaged by moisture, by critters getting in there. Here they’ve got the dumpsters and you can see that it’s all out of the way so that it’s not inhibiting any traffic flow. Now, let’s go ahead and head up to the roof.
So, as you can see, the guys are working diligently behind me. Now, this is one of about 60 buildings on campus. Like a lot of the other buildings, this roof was originally a tar and gravel ballasted roof. The problem with those roofs are that when they start leaking, they’re very difficult to repair. So, that’s why we are going back on this job with a single ply TPO membrane. I’ll show you what exactly that looks like. So, this is a thermoplastic polyolefin, or TPO membrane, and it is about 60 millimeters of thickness. Underneath, we’ve gone in with two and a half inches of polyISO, which is the underlayment. Once they have all of the TPO membrane laid, they will heat weld all of the seams together, so then there are no leaks and it is a continuous system. This is one of the seams as you can see has been heat welded, and it is completely air and watertight, completely continuous.
So, one of the great things that we offer is what’s called a no-dollar limit warranty. In order to have that certification, you have to be established with the manufacturer. So, this project started right after the end of the last semester, and it’ll be finished just as the next semester is beginning. It’s about a four and a half week project, and this is one of 60 that we will be completing, so stay tuned for the rest. So, just as a quick recap on this job, we dropped the materials and the turnaround time was about four and a half weeks from start to finish. Now, if you have a project that you need done quickly and promptly and done right the first time, check us out on the web, check out our website, check out our history and our previous projects, and we would love to help you. My name’s Olivia with RestoreMasters, signing off.
