Hail Damage Roof Repair

Hey, guys. It’s Olivia again with RestoreMasters and today we’re at Paragon Apartments. The reason we’re at this property today is because of a hailstorm that occurred around this time last year. Now this particular client is on our Overwatch program. For each one of our clients that are on our Overwatch program, they’re already prepared so that whenever there is a catastrophe, we can respond immediately. So, we have to stay mindful of the residents that are going to be coming and going throughout the project. So, we have staging areas set up at the end of every driveway so that there’re no materials, there’s no debris in their way, and the hazard is kept to a minimum.

So, what the client currently has on the roof is what’s called weathered wood. Doesn’t really stand out from the rest of the property, so we suggested that he go back with a Noir Black shingle, which is really going to contrast the doors and the EIFS much nicer. Now, the roofers are on building three. Let’s go ahead and check it out. So, we’re up here on the roof right now. You can see the guys behind me diligently working to tear off the shingles. Now, one of the most crucial parts about a commercial project is being prepared for the unexpected. So, when we tore off the shingles, we found that none of the decking was up to code on all four buildings. Now, normally this would require a change order and a lot of additional costs to the client. But because this was an insurance claim, all we had to do was document all of these issues and submit them to the carrier for approval.

Once we got their approval, we were able to move forward in 100% new decking on all four buildings with zero cost out of pocket to the client. So, this is an old piece of flashing that came off with the shingles. Now you can see, this has been around the block a little bit. It’s all beat up, there’s holes in it. So, what we do in addition to installing new felt, new decking and new shingles, as we put in new flashing as well, to ensure that there are no leaks, that the roof is done the right way so that we can uphold our warranty. So, to recap this job, there was a hailstorm that impacted one of our Overwatch clients. So, we were able to come out immediately and assess the damages so that a claim could be filed within 24 hours.

Now, here we are completing all of the roofs, according to what was covered by insurance and the owner is completely happy.
