Multiple Roof Replacements for University

Project Overview
Summary provided by video transcript.
Hey, thanks for tuning in. Matt Irvin here. Today, we are at Simpson University. This university is one of the largest Christian-based universities in the state of California, originally founded in 1921. The reason we’re here today is a hailstorm came through and damaged a lot of the roof systems here on campus. Let’s go check it out.
So this project actually started about a mile down the road. We were roofing and replacing one of the larger churches here in town. The pastor of the church ended up knowing the director here at the college. Since we were a direct referral, the college here still wanted to check us out, rightfully so. We provided them with a detailed list of references from hospitals, schools, universities and other large projects that we’ve done around the country.
On this project here, they have roof systems from tile roofs, flat roofs, metal roofs, shingle roofs, and even stone coated steel roofing systems. Being that we are one of the larger contractors here in America, we are working on different roof systems and different projects on a day-to-day basis. So for all these different roof systems that you see here on this property, we were able to provide references directly from the manufacturer recommending our services because the quality of work that our crew install.
After the vetting process was completed, they decided to bring us to a board meeting where we could present all of our findings of the storm damage, as well as our plan to restore this property back to pre-storm conditions. After the board meeting was completed, there was a unanimous vote to move forward with RestoreMasters and begin dealing with the insurance process.
Now, that we’re on top with the roof system, I want to show you just what we’re looking at on the tile roof portion. So we’ll see all these breaks here in the corners. What the insurance company has said that this is natural from expansion and contraction. Now, mind you, a lot of these are brand new, very, very fresh breaks with no dirt underneath. How did that happen?
So we’ve gotten the engineering reports back proving that that damage is actually from hail. But we wanted to take it even a step further than that. We’ve actually hired an independent company to perform a study on the effects of when hail impacts the corner of the tile roof systems. This way, we can move forward with the insurance company without any more hiccups.
Now, we’re on top of one of the many flat roof systems here on the campus. We’ve already been able to get the flat roof systems approved. As well as behind me, you’ll see the darker green building, that’s actually a stone coated steel roofing system. That is already fully approved as well. Like I said, below, we’re waiting on the approvals for the tile roof system.
One of the reasons that the insurance company is denying any damages that all, not even one broken tile they’re admitting to on the tile is because that is a discontinued tile. Once they pay for any of the tile, they’re going to have to pay for all of the tile here on campus so that we keep the same uniform appearance that we’ll see on all the buildings here behind me.
Once we finish up with the approvals from the insurance carrier, we’ll then begin the build process here on site. On the flat roof systems, they currently have a foam with a coating on top. We’re going to upgrade them to a four-inch insulation that will save on energy costs as well as a bright white TPO roofing system on top of that.
On the tile roof systems here on campus, we’re are going to go back with a stone coated steel product on every building here. Stone coated steel is a lot lighter. It’s more wind resistant. It doesn’t fade like concrete tile. So we’ll be able to keep this campus beautiful for many years to come. Now, during this project, we have a customer portal setup like with all of our projects to where our customers can log in and see daily updates on everything that’s going on on top of the roofing systems.
So if you own a large commercial property and your property has been through a wind event or a hail storm event, feel free to give us a call. We’d love to come out, check the property out for you, document the damages and give you our honest opinion on what we think your best options are moving forward. Check us out on the web and watch some of our other videos listed of some of our exciting projects much like this one. We would love to add you to our ever growing list of happy customers. Thanks for watching.
