Roof Hail Damage Repair Started In Midland, Texas, After Storm on May 24, 2022

On Tuesday, pea-sized to baseball-sized hail dropped, with rain, wind gusts up to 80 mph, and a tornado, in Midland and the surrounding areas. Northwest Midland received one-half inch of rain, in less than an hour. Early evening, a tornado hit ground along highway 158 and moved into Sterling County.

After the rains blew by, winds reaching 38 mph and gusts of 51 mph were recorded at Midland International. An Ef-1 tornado was confirmed at 95 mph, with a path of 7.4 miles and maximum width of 100 yards. Large trees were downed, tree limbs snapped, and some homes had roof damage. More damage to buildings occurred from wind gusts than the tornado, roofs blown off a house in Meadow and in Monument, and shingles blown off a roof in Gardendale, to name a few.

The gray areas in the southward side of the storm indicate heavy winds, up about 70 mph, and a tornado.
