The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center recorded dozens of reports of big hail all across Texas.

Hail maps indicate widespread areas hit with 1.5" diameter hail (orange & red) as well as concentrated areas of 2.5" and bigger hail (purple), with some in excess of 4".

From the Rio Grande to San Marcos, affected areas include: Val Verde County, Uvalde County, Del Rio, Sabinal, Hondo and other communities south and west of San Antonio.

Studies show that 1" diameter hail can cause roof damage to common asphalt shingles, and hail in excess of 1.5" diameter may damage nearly all roofing systems to some extent.
