Area news crews reportedly interviewed Bolivar community members who endured raging winds and hard ice impacts. City of Bolivar Emergency Management Director Brent Watkins and property owners agreed the fast-moving storm left piles of ice and roof hail damage.

“It just started pattering, and then all the sudden, it just started, the wind started blowing really, really hard, and hail just started hitting the windows. I honestly thought that the windows were going to break,” one resident reportedly told KY3 news. “First instinct was to just take cover and get away from the windows and stay low because the last thing I need is being hit by hail. I’m not going to lie, it was quite scary. And seeing the wind and the hail, it was just, Wow.”

Media reports noted that a funnel cloud may have touched down west of Fair Play just over the Cedar County line. Early reports did not indicate any injuries or fatalities, but “property damage is abundant.” Officials have also reportedly stated that insurance companies are expected to cover the cost of residential and commercial roof repair.

A local hail damage map shows a massive storm stretch from Stockton Lake to the west of Conway, with smaller fronts hovering to the east and south of Stockton. Areas on the periphery of the hailstorm, shown in yellow, indicate hail up to 1.25 inches fell in Conway, Halfway, along Highway 65, and Bona, among others. The orange spaces show hail up to 2.5 inches able to crack shingles striking Bolivar, Boyd, Ekland, and Aldrich, among others.
