Massive Commercial Roof Repair Undertaking Follows Hail & Wind Devastation to Kearney, Southern Nebraska on Friday, April 29, 2022

Hail the size of grapefruits destroyed roofs and shattered windshields across Kearney County while a pair of tornados ripped at buildings in Southern Nebraska on Friday, April 29th. The Lincoln Star Journal and other outlets provided advanced warnings that twisters and hailstorms were likely to hit during the early evening and persist late into the night.

“The storms that moved east across the state after developing in southwest Nebraska dropped large hail in some areas. In Kearney County, grapefruit-sized hail was reported with storms around 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Axtell area. Hail the size of tennis balls was reported near Beaver City in Furnas County,” the Lincoln Star Journal reported. And noting high wind events, “tornadoes left a path as wide as a football field with peak winds estimated at 93 mph. They moved through the Douglas area about 20 miles southeast of Lincoln just after 8:10 p.m.”

Thick orange swaths point to ice stones as large as 2.5 inches inflicting heavy roof storm damage in municipalities such as Kearney.
